Hi There!

A special space just for kids and young people

Your Feelings Matter

Sometimes families go through big changes. Maybe someone in your family is transgender, or maybe they're figuring out who they really are. These changes can bring up lots of different feelings, and that's completely okay.

All of your feelings are okay. Happy, sad, confused, worried, angry, excited - whatever you're feeling is perfectly normal, and you're not alone.

You Might Be Feeling...

Confused

"I don't really understand what's happening." That's okay! Sometimes grown-ups use big words, and it's all pretty new. It's okay to ask questions.

Worried

"What if things change too much?" Change can feel scary. It's normal to worry about what's going to happen and if things will be okay.

Left Out

"Everyone is paying attention to them, not me." Sometimes when one person needs extra support, it can feel like you're being forgotten. Your needs matter too.

Proud & Happy

"I love my family member and I'm happy they're being themselves!" That's wonderful! You can feel happy AND have questions or worries at the same time.

It's Okay to Have Questions!

You probably have lots of questions. Here are some questions other kids have asked:

  • "Why is this happening?"
  • "Will they still love me the same?"
  • "What do I call them now?"
  • "What will my friends think?"
  • "Is it okay if I'm sad sometimes?"
  • "Will our family be okay?"

These are all great questions, and you deserve to have someone help you understand the answers.

What Does Teresa Do?

Teresa is a special kind of helper called a therapist. She talks with kids and families to help them understand big feelings and big changes.

She listens to YOU

Teresa really listens to what you have to say. Your thoughts and feelings are important.

She helps you understand

She explains things in ways that make sense, without using confusing grown-up words.

She creates a safe space

You can say anything you're feeling, ask any questions, and it's all kept private (unless someone is getting hurt).

She helps families talk together

Sometimes it's hard to tell your family how you're feeling. Teresa can help everyone talk and listen to each other.

What Happens in a Session?

You might be wondering what it's like to talk with Teresa. Here's what usually happens:

1. You meet Teresa

She's kind and friendly. You'll talk about what you like to do for fun, and she'll explain how things work.

2. You talk about your feelings

You can talk about anything that's on your mind. There are no wrong answers!

3. Sometimes you do activities

You might draw, play games, or do other activities that help you express your feelings.

4. You learn coping strategies

Teresa teaches you helpful ways to handle big feelings when they come up.

5. You decide what to share

You're in control. You only share what you feel comfortable sharing.

Remember...

Your feelings are valid. Whether you're happy, sad, confused, or all of those things at once - it's all okay.

You're not alone. Other kids are going through similar things, and there are people who understand and want to help.

You matter. Your needs, your feelings, and your questions are just as important as everyone else's.

It's okay to ask for help. Talking to someone like Teresa doesn't mean anything is wrong with you - it means you're being brave and taking care of yourself.

Want to Talk?

If you'd like to talk with Teresa (or if your parent or guardian wants to learn more), they can book a session. You're welcome here, and your voice matters.
